Festival „Youth for Classics in the Caucasus“ Tbilisi
July 7th to 11th
Patronage: Dr. Davit Narmania, Mayor of Tbilisi
From July 7th to 11th 2017 the festival “Youth for Classics in the Caucasus” will take part in the Royal District Theatre Tbilisi under the Patronage of Dr. Davit Narmania, Mayor of Tbilisi.
The festival comprises various concerts under the leadership of the renowned Caucasian Chamber Orchestra. The artistic director is the German conductor, pianist and composer Uwe Berkemer who founded the orchestra in summer 2005 including outstanding string players of the Caucasian region. His vision was and is, to demonstrate that music is a unifying force across borders and boundaries, a symbol for peace and mutual understanding.
The core of the project will be German youths meeting young musicians from different Caucasus regions instructed by the Caucasian Chamber Orchestra as a sign of international cultural exchange. They will do rehearsals together and devise creative workshops culminating in joint concerts.
Besides enjoying making music together the
young musicians are supposed to gain a deeper understanding and acceptance of
different cultures, values that are becoming more and more important within the
changing framework of today’s societies.
This model
project promotes the cooperation of young musicians from the Caucasus with
adolescents from Germany, with the participation of a professional chamber
orchestra, thus creating an innovative approach.
