The Caucasian Chamber Orchestra was founded in summer 2005 with support of the German KFW, including outstanding string players of the Caucasian region under the leadership of the German conductor, composer and pianist Uwe Berkemer. His vision was and is, to demonstrate that music is a unifying force across borders and boundaries, a symbol for peace and mutual understanding.

The Caucasian Chamber Orchestra has started as  a permanent full-time performing group of 13-16 professional musicians, based in Tbilisi.

Since January 2008 the orchestra is renewing its financial basis (sponsors and support), therefore the orchestra's work takes currently part in project phases. The permanent, fulltime presence and acting in the Caucasus Region is planned again in the  future.

Different Concert Tours have brought the orchestra to important Concert places in Europe, like "Konzerthaus Berlin", March 2006, "Hofburg Wien" September 2006 (invited by the OSCE), “Dôme des Invalides” Paris October 2007, "Grand Hall of Conservatory" Brussels October 2007.

The Caucasian Chamber Orchestra, which has been supported several times by the European Parliament, has followed already three invitations to play in the European Parliament Brussels (2006, 2010, 2016) and European Council Strasbourg (October 2007).

In November 2007 the Orchestra performed a very successful Concert Tour through Spain with 9 concerts. In October 2009 and 2011 the Orchestra was invited again to Spain with 13 and 11 concerts.

Also in 2009 the Orchestra took part in the Negroamaro Festival in Lecce (South Italy).

Besides frequent travelling abroad, the orchestra has participated intensively in the cultural life of Georgia. In June 2006 the Caucasian Chamber Orchestra performed the second edition of its own International Music Festival "PAX VOBISCUM" with soloists from USA, Europe and Caucasus Region. The Caucasian Chamber Orchestra has been the first orchestra for many years which has played in South Ossetia (Eredvi).

In June 2007 a 90 minutes documentary movie ("Grozny Dreaming") about the Orchestra and its vision has been shot for the International Cinema ( World Premiere August 2008 in Ascona, winner of Lessinia d'oro '08) by the Swiss film makers Mario Casella and Fulvio Mariani.
